Innovation in the floral industry is not limited to university trials or major corporate breakthroughs. New ideas often come from the front line entrepreneurs looking for a better way to do things. Such is the case with Rio Ice Deep Tissue Ice Hydration.

Proper hydration is the single most important factor affecting the post harvest life of a cut flower. Rio Ice Deep Tissue Ice Hydration is the most innovative wet pack solution available on the market. Our meticulous hydration process coupled with our unique preservative formula delivers high-quality, long lasting roses with the brightest colors. The secret to Rio Ice is that our process hydrates the cells in the stem more thoroughly, which leads to more complete hydration of the stem, petioles, leaves, calyx and petals.

The Rio Ice hydration process is a slow, steady and detailed process that starts with our industry leading quality control inspection. After the flowers have been inspected the leaves that would be under water in the processing buckets are removed. The flowers are then cut under water to prepare the stem for maximum hydration potential. Immediately after cutting, the stems are placed in a properly mixed hydration/preservative solution. This hydration pulse takes at least one hour to complete.

Once hydrated, the flowers are bound in an easy-to-remove, but durable cardboard sleeve that delivers maximum protection against damage that can be caused during shipping. Once delivered, the flowers are ready to go! The pre-cut stems and hydration save florists valuable time and money.
